European Policy Statement One of the priorities of the college is to encourage and increase the collaboration with higher education institutions in Europe and the world. As the College statute defines, one of the main objectives of the college is to educate people, who could actively involve in the development of global economy and technologies. The College aims at the full integration into international academic world and is open to international cooperation actions. Following these objectives, the college has been increasing partnerships with higher education institutions since 2001, supporting student exchange and staff visits, as well as technical assistance, curriculum development and research activities. A constantly increasing number of students and teachers go abroad for exchanges, studies, and placements. These are being made possible by substantial funding from European Union Socrates and Leonardo da Vinci programmes. In addition, the College is involved in various international and nation-wide collaborations and networks. Within Socrates / Erasmus programme there were lecturers from partner institutions from Finland, Latvia, Spain, Scotland, Belgium, Norway, and Germany. For the new Lifelong learning Programme 2007-2013 Vilnius Co-operative College has already started implementing an international course for incoming students. Within new Lifelong Learning program programme, Vilnius Co-operative College is intensively working on enhancing partnerships with existing social partners, who are interested in providing work placements for incoming international students under Lifelong Learning Programme. The college has a specialized department for strategic development and innovation with a coordinator for mobility actions within. In its international actions the college actively keeps to non-discrimination objectives - gender equality, integration of disabled students and staff, enhancement of social and economic cohesion and combating of xenophobia and racism. To ensure quality of academic mobility activities, Vilnius Co-operative College follows the European Policy Statement (EPS), which gives transparent and warrant implementation of academic mobility activities. ECTS system is implemented in the studies; information on it is available on the webpage and in paper books. With the first year of acceptance to the European University Charter, the College has introduced a position of Erasmus programme coordinator. The responsibilities of the coordinator firstly include constant information presentation to the academic members (students, lecturers and administration staff) about every new possibility for applying for students / teachers exchange programme. Students / teachers are able to find such information on the College web page, informative advertisements in college billboards, and during the specialized informative events. The Erasmus programme coordinator organizes the selection process of the students / staff mobility. To be selected for Erasmus exchange programme, a participant has to present curriculum vitae and motivation letter where s/he convinces to be selected for the exchange programme. Students have to provide their academic records. The English language skills are evaluated by written test and during the interview with each student, participating in Erasmus student mobility programme. The Erasmus programme coordinator responsibilities also include the monitoring of the mobility processes, providing information, support to the students and teachers participating in mobility actions and maintaining close contacts with international partners. The college has a language policy which assures high quality of languages teaching and learning at the college. Each student can learn two foreign languages.
